Please enlighten readers about JCB India's major contribution, in respect to construction of roads and highways infrastructure in India.
JCB 116 Soil Compactor
Jasmeet Singh: JCB products have been contributing in India's infrastructure development for close to four decades now. Over 2,25,000 machines are successfully working in the country. Roads and Highways is one of major drivers for infrastructure growth in India and the Government's focus is also evident through the significant investments and projects it has announced towards this sector.
JCB is fully geared with its world class range of equipment to leverage the opportunity. Today, we are a Full Range Infrastructure Equipment Partner, especially in the area of Road construction. We are now providing not just products but complete solutions.
For the Road sector, we currently offer the finest range of Compactors through these three variants - the recently introduced JCB116 (11T Soil Compactor), the VMT860eco (9T Tandem Roller) and the VMT330 (3.3T Mini Tandem Roller).
In the large Excavator category, we offer the JS205LC (20T Tracked Excavator), the JCB 220LC Xtra (22T Tracked Excavator) and the JCB305LC (30T Tracked Excavator).
The 3DX Backhoe Loader is largely used for general purpose work. The JCB 455ZX, the 5.5T Wheeled Loader which is primarily used for bulk material loading at a construction site is part of the offering.
What are the latest innovations JCB India has incorporated in the existing line-up of Construction and Earthmoving Equipment?
Jasmeet Singh: JCB has made some new and innovative additions in its product portfolio in the last one year and has transformed into a full range Infrastructure Equipment partner. We launched 10 new products in 2016.
In July last year, we introduced three revolutionary world class product lines in the Material Handling segment; these are Telehandlers, Skid Steer Loaders and Super Loaders. With the Indian Material Handling Industry growing, these products were launched with the aim of replicating global best practices in India.
During Bauma Conexpo 2016 at Gurugram, JCB further introduced seven new products mainly in the higher capacity segment across different product categories. In the excavators segment, we launched the 22T Excavator - the JCB220LC Xtra, the 30T Excavator - the JCB 305LC, the 37T Excavator - the JCB 370LC, and the 3T Mini Excavator - the JCB 30Plus.Wheeled Loader JCB 455ZX
In the Wheeled Loader segment, we launched the 5.5T Wheeled Loader, the 455ZX Wheeled Loader and the 11T Soil Compactor, the JCB116 in the Compactor segment.
JCB also launched the new and versatile 2DX Backhoe Loader, a compact Backhoe Loader for small work sites, solid waste management and for general construction.
JCB 3DX ecoXcellence Backhoe Loader
Additionally, on the technology front, JCB India has introduced an “Advanced Telematics Technology” in India known as JCB Livelink. This introduction was based on the need of our customers to remain in contact with machines as they worked in various parts of the country and Livelink enables them to do that.
It allows users to get SMS alerts on their mobile phones or smart devices regarding service alerts, operations and security of their machines. The information is available in real time regarding the health of the machine including engines and gives vital information to the customer in terms of number of hours the machine has been operational, service intervals, fuel levels, malfunctions if any, etc.
With all these new product and services, JCB is transforming itself into a compelling infrastructure equipment partner. We will continue to introduce newer product solutions that enhance the productivity and the profitability for our customers. JCB is committed to innovation and technology and will continue to do so with the support of our customers and all stakeholders.
Which is the highest selling machinery among JCB's impressive line-up of equipment?
Jasmeet Singh: We offer 50 world class products in eight product categories and the range starts from 3T Mini Excavator and goes up to 37T Large Excavators. All our products are designed to cater to different segments and different applications however, Backhoe Loader continues to the most popular machine at an Indian construction site.
The Backhoe Loader has played an integral part in India's infrastructure growth story. JCB pioneered the concept of Backhoe Loaders almost four decades ago in India and currently offers the widest range of Backhoe Loaders in India with 5 different variants - 2DX, 3DX, 3DX Xtra, 3DX Super, 4DX.
Backhoe's versatility and mobility are few of the reasons that it finds great use at almost every construction site, in both urban and rural India. This multi-purpose machine continues to perform a variety of tasks at sites and is used for digging, dosing, levelling and lifting activities.
Our JCB 2DX Backhoe Loader is the smallest Backhoe in our portfolio and has been specifically designed to suit the rural applications. While the large 4DX is the most productive Backhoe Loader in India and is best suited for mass excavation or digging in hard strata.
Our new range which is known as the “ecoXcellence” range of Backhoe Loaders is 10% more fuel efficient and 30% more economical thereby ensuring lower operating costs. Apart from the popular JCB 3DX, the three variants of Backhoe Loader - the JCB 3DX Xtra, the JCB 3DX Super and the JCB 4DX are also part of this new ecoXcellence range.
These world class machines are manufactured at our Delhi-NCR factory which is the world's largest backhoe manufacturing unit with the manufacturing capacity of 110 machines per shift. This ‘Made in India' machine is also exported around the globe to over 70 countries.
Owing to the allocation committed towards rural development in the recent Union Budget, Backhoe Loaders will find great utility in rural projects, especially in the construction of roads under the PMGSY - Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and also, in the development of other physical infrastructure such as schools, medical centres etc. Rural development projects coupled with Government's Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan will drive the demand for this versatile product.
From JCB India's perspective, how do you see India's Construction Industry in the next five years?
Jasmeet Singh: The importance of the Infrastructure sector in the overall progress of the economy is now evident. The government has given considerable focus to this sector in its budgets, where significant allocation has been committed. The recent projects that have been announced in different sectors such as Roads and Highways, Railways, Ports, and Irrigation etc. should give momentum to the infrastructure activity which will lead to an increase in the demand of all Earthmoving and Construction Equipment.
