In a significant move to enhance the efficiency of the global construction industry, Elematic, a globally leading provider of precast technologies, forms a strategic partnership with Sitedrive, a construction technology firm. This collaboration accelerates the speed at which buildings are built, reduces costs, and delivers higher quality through an industrialized construction approach.
The construction industry has historically faced inefficiencies, with recent studies indicating that over 80 percent of working hours on-site are often wasted, creating little or no value. Elematic brings design services for precast buildings together with technology and software, Sitedrive the technology that drives lean construction in interior works. By utilizing this approach, they can cut construction time by half and cut costs by 30 percent while ensuring safer and more sustainable building practices and high-end results.
"On a global scale, buildings continue to be built in traditional ways which binds scarce labor to the job sites, is costly and is not keeping up at the pace which society needs new apartments and amenities," said Teppo Voutilainen, CEO of Elematic, emphasizing the need to transform how buildings are built.
"Elematic brings the experience of designing buildings using precast to optimize the material consumption and number of structural elements to be erected at job sites. In addition, we bring the full production system and software to enable our clients to produce the elements efficiently. The missing piece in optimizing the full construction system is optimizing how the interior work activities are managed and completed. Together we will enable customers to move to a job site-centric approach through a pull-system, where the whole supply chain is geared to support the job sites to perform better,” Teppo Voutilainen continues.
“We have developed a solution suite which allows job sites to enable a 20-fold improvement in how space is used and workers tasked. We take planning from the traditional floor level to a more granular apartment and individual room level. This allows us to enable a radical step-change in how work is done,” explains Henry Salo, CEO of Sitedrive.
“We have also developed a prefabricated bathroom pod with our sister company Flow Modules, which helps to move the most complex building component to be produced in a factory environment, reducing hassle at sites. Our solutions have been validated at over 300 construction sites, at 70 construction companies in the Nordic countries. We are now ready to take these solutions to the global market by working with Elematic which has customers in over 100 countries,” Henry Salo continues. “This is truly a win-win partnership”.
Elematic provides not only precast technology and software for optimizing how building frames are erected, but also comprehensive design services for precast element construction. On the other hand, Sitedrive contributes its expertise in production planning and execution, along with prefabricated bathroom pods from its sister company Flow Modules, which are both essential components in modern construction.
With increasing global demands for reconstruction and affordable housing, this partnership stands ready to meet these global challenges. By harnessing lean construction principles, Elematic and Sitedrive can make significant shift towards a more efficient, safe, and sustainable future in construction.
