Major Ports of India post highest-ever cargo throughput in FY 2022-23
India's Major Ports reported the highest-ever performance in cargo handling with a total throughput of 795 million tonnes of cargo during FY2022-23, according to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH. India's Major Ports registered a 10.4 per cent growth in cargo handling during 2022-23, as compared to the previous year.
India's Major Ports reported the highest-ever performance in cargo handling with a total throughput of 795 million tonnes of cargo during FY2022-23, according to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH.
India's Major Ports registered a 10.4 per cent growth in cargo handling during 2022-23, as compared to the previous year. Furthermore, they achieved the highest-ever output per day of 17,239 tonnes, marking a 6% increase compared to last year.
Meanwhile, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) set a new benchmark by handling over 6 million TEUs, reflecting the highest container throughput. The minister also said the major ports recorded their highest-ever number of vessels handled, reaching a total of 21,846 vessels in the year.
