How do you look at India's transition from traditional to smart building system?
A smart and developed city is always defined by its infrastructure and building layouts which are the basis towards the growth and progress of any country.
As the country headed towards development, the whole focus then shifted towards green technological advancements and smart building management systems over the years. Building Automation systems have these days enabled the residents and commercial spaces to have control over the functions of their buildings and in turn save ample of resources. The Internet boom of 2000 along with cloud computing also facilitated a staggering array of new applications and services, as well as their intricate integration. Due to the buildings' extremely intricate networking, BMS is now referred to as iBMS, where use of Artificial Intelligence is integrated for attaining Systematic, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timebound (SMART) targets.
The current trend of combining green technologies with intelligent buildings, brings together the best of these both fields to form the basis of SMART buildings, which are not just another iteration of industrial control systems (ICS) or simple building management systems (BMS), because smart buildings are much more than just the interconnection of various controls; they are almost like a self-sustaining living entity connected to the internet with discrete decisiveness through real time responding to the changing requirements. IoT technologies have evolved the industry and optimized facility operations.
How is the demand for building automation in the country and what future you envisage going forward?
The global building automation and controls market was worth US$130 billion in 2021. It is estimated to reach US$340 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 11.3% during the period from 2022-2030.
In the upcoming time, all industry verticals like Data Centre, shopping malls, smart factories, etc. will take a shift towards the smart building management systems for enhanced safety, better monitoring and targeting of energy consumption, controlled rainwater harvesting, and so on, all of which can prove to be highly beneficial for sustainable buildings and residents.
What are the latest building automation solutions offered by the company?
Mitsubishi Electric India offers cutting-edge building management system (BMS), which can centrally manage, watch over, and guarantee smooth operational control of buildings, because the software is easily scalable and adaptable, you can use it to centrally manage and control multiple buildings at various locations and get customized visualization assistance or discrete control too. BMS solution is a combination software, controller, sensors and actuators, wherein the software program is configured using coding protocols like CC-Link IE, C-Bus, Profibus, and so on. Today, with the advancement in technology, BMS can also be integrated with internet protocols and open standards. Customize dashboards enables ease of real time tracking of facility at miniscule levels even on fingertips.
From air conditioning, chillers, and ventilation to lighting, elevators, security, and fire alarms, BMS Solutions offered by Mitsubishi Electric India can assist you in maximizing the management of a wide range of systems. The visualization and control of your building operations, including those from various manufacturers, are made simple and connected by our 64-bit advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, ICONICS GENESIS Platform, and 3D graphics.
As green and energy efficient building gains pace, how far the company's solutions support green initiatives and sustainability?
As we see advancement and technology taking over the world, environmental preservation and sustainability have become a matter of concern for every sector across the globe.
Companies like Mitsubishi Electric India intend to promote sustainability and works hard to develop monitoring and control systems which can optimize the energy usage in any building. e-F@ctory and building management technologies help to identify the sources of excessive energy consumption at shopfloors and commercial buildings and hence, work to minimize the consumption and usage. Monitoring and controlling of air conditioning, chillers, and ventilation, lighting, elevators, security and fire alarms is also possible to limit and manage the energy consumption. In addition to this, the low voltage switchgear range can offer extensive protection for the installed assets and resources.
How do you compare automation in commercial and residential buildings?
Automation has helped the industry tremendously. As a technology, it helps reduce the need for human effort or assistance for any process that is followed at manufacturing unit, factory, and so on. Automation also helps to operate equipment with the help of various control systems that are designed to ensure minimal human intervention, if any. Automation has always been touted as a way to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, increase production, ensure better quality, and much more. An added advantage of automation is that it makes the work environment at the building much safer and efficient.
Automation has helped the residential buildings by monitoring and controlling the HVAC systems, security and surveillance systems, water management systems, electronic gadget managements, etc. The automated features keep a watch on these systems and take an action or inform the residential owners to react as per the demand of the situation. The pre-analysis saves and protects the members of the residents from any foreseen damage.
Commercial buildings on the contrary have always been complex and larger when compared to the residential ones. Automated building management systems are the need of the hour for commercial spaces like, data centre, shopping malls, hospitals, office building, etc. where the automated systems can detect even the minor of the error and alarms the building operator with prior details for necessary actions to be taken. Integrated systems are used to manage power outages, wastewater management, HVAC monitoring, elevator management, control system, smart metering, solar panels, climate control, automatic fire detection system, PA system & AV systems, chillers management, etc. which ultimately saves the energy and secures the large complexes from any upcoming damages.
