In 2012 we launched another pioneering product - Philips Hue, the world's first wireless connected lighting system for homes. What started off as two bulbs and a bridge evolved into an 'ecosystem' of bulbs, luminaires, switches, sensors that work with more than 800 third-party apps.
Advantages
In 2012, only 22% of our overall sales were from LED products and now almost 80% of our portfolio is LED. Today we sell more LED lighting solutions than any other company and hold more than 19,500 LED patents. The biggest advantage of LED lighting, that also enabled the development of smart lighting solutions, is that it can be connected to networks, controls, software and devices. This allows it to be monitored, controlled and managed in ways once unimaginable in the era of the first light bulb.
