Century Plyboards commissions PVC/WPC products manufacturing plant in AP
Century Plyboards, India’s largest manufacturer of wood panel and decorative industry, heralded the commencement of commercial dispatch of PVC & WPC Products from its recently inaugurated 100% subsidiary Century Panels Limited at Badvel, YSR Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. With this milestone, the company expects a growth of 50-60% from this product category.
The growth of PVC products is highly impeccable and versatile and is used in a wide variety of applications ranging from furniture, door, door frames, ceilings, exterior cladding, wall panels etc. The versatility of PVC makes it highly attractive to various industries hence the mass demand for this product is growing at large. Not only that, but the mentioned product is also relatively inexpensive compared to other traditional materials adding much to its benefits. Additionally, PVC is known for its durability and 100% water and termite-proof qualities making the segment grow at CAGR of over 25%.
YSR Kadapa district, the potential agro-industry hub of Andhra Pradesh is now under the light of development because of CenturyPly’s new initiative. With an allocated investment of Rs 1000 crores for the 100-acre greenfield project, the brand instituted the laminate, MDF, and PVC unit in Andhra Pradesh on 23 December 2023. While the first phase of operational production included two large presses of laminates, the production and commercial dispatch of MDFs at the unit has already given a flying start to the second phase which boasts an investment of Rs 700 crores, just for MDFs.
Additionally, in the coming 3-5 years, the brand aims to generate direct and indirect employment of 2000+ people in the region of Andhra Pradesh.
While most of CenturyPly’s businesses are growing in double digits, PVC/WPC is poised to grow at a much higher pace due to the lower base and its prominence in the sunrise category. The said category has high distribution and end-use synergy with CenturyPly’s core product basket, hence the natural extension of the basket.
The product adheres to the company’s goal of sustainability as PVC is recyclable and reduces environmental impact. Lately, there has been an incessant rise in environmental concern wherein the PVC which is highly recyclable product provides the ability to be manufactured using sustainable practices and contributes highly to its attractiveness as a sunrise sector. On the other hand, the PVC-enhanced combination of growing demand and cost-effectiveness making it a highly sunrise sector.
Keshav Bhajanka, the Executive Director said, “This is a testament to our continued efforts to innovate and expand our product offerings. We are thrilled to witness the first commercial dispatch of PVC materials from our Andhra Pradesh unit. The Andhra Pradesh unit, equipped with the latest technology and machinery, is designed to produce a diverse range of PVC products, including PVC boards, doors, door frames, and other related materials.”
