How do you assess India’s metro rail developments over the recent years?
India’s metro rail developments in recent years have been remarkable. With the expansion of metro networks in multiple cities, improved technology, and increased efficiency, metro rail systems have become a vital mode of transport for millions. The focus on sustainable and eco-friendly solutions further promises India’s progress. DMRC is proud to contribute to this transformation.
DMRC itself has prioritized technology and innovation to enhance commuter convenience. DMRC is playing the role of consultant for many of the Metro projects in India which have been implemented and under construction. DMRC is also involved in the construction of metros in Bhubaneswar, Patna, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
As the trend setter in Indian metro rail sector, how is DMRC expanding the metro rail systems across the country?
As a pioneer in the Indian metro rail sector, DMRC has been actively involved in expanding metro systems across the country by providing consultancy, project management, and operational expertise. DMRC is currently supporting metro projects in cities like Bhubaneswar, Patna, Mumbai, and Jaipur. Through strategic collaborations and MoUs with various agencies, DMRC is contributing to the development of reliable metro networks nationwide, while also offering technical support to international projects like Dhaka Metro in Bangladesh.
Which are the new projects taken up by the company? What are your future plans?
The Phase 4 expansion is a major project, adding about 86 km of new metro lines across five corridors—Magenta Line (Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg), Pink Line (Majlis Park to Maujpur), Golden Line (Tughlakabad to Aerocity), Green Line (Inderlok to Inderprastha) and Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block.
DMRC is also involved in several metro projects across the country, providing technical expertise and project management support. We are actively working on metro projects in Bhubaneswar, Patna, Mumbai, and Jaipur, and contributing to other projects in various capacities. Internationally, DMRC is involved in the implementation of the Dhaka Metro project.
Looking ahead, DMRC plans to expand its role in urban transport development by exploring more opportunities for metro projects in new cities, both in India and internationally. We are also focused on adopting cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices so to further enhance metro operations and passenger convenience.
How do you look forward to the emerging opportunities in Indian railways and metros market?
With the increasing number of people entering the job market and the growing availability of resources, the demand for efficient public transport is inevitable. Time is a critical factor for individuals across all strata of society, making advanced urban transport systems like metro rail the ideal solution. As the demand grows, so does the responsibility of urban transport providers to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable services. Hence, DMRC is committed to exploring state-of-the-art solutions to meet these emerging opportunities and ensure that metro and rail systems continue to evolve to meet the needs of the public.
How do you look at India becoming the second-largest metro network in the world?
India becoming the second-largest metro network in the world was the need of the hour. It reflects the growing demand for efficient urban transport solutions. As a pioneer, DMRC fully supports this development, recognizing that improved urban transport is a key to enhancing productivity and driving economic growth. What is your Mission 2025 for the company and the country?
Our Mission is focused on ensuring the timely execution and operationalisation of the many ongoing metro projects with us across the country. Our goal is to provide world-class urban transport facilities that are accessible to all and furthermore improves the quality of life of the residents. We are fully committed to ensuring the best possible solutions for urban transportation in India.
