Diwali is the time of year when the creativity & artistic senses of each individual come alive to decorate their homes. And if you are one of those who walk the extra mile to make sure your interiors are awe-inspiring; this article has got you covered! A festival like Diwali stirs joy and excitement in each one's minds, most of us even get our homes tidied up during this time. Thus, it makes it the best time to start with modest changes in the house for the festive makeover of the space.

For anyone who adores flowers, floral decoration is the first go-to option to start with. In an Indian household, we are prone to spruce up the space using marigolds, Arabian jasmine, roses, hibiscus and lotus. One thing common amongst these flowers is their longevity.

Torans are one of the oldest ways to start decorating homes in the Indian culture floral torans at the entrance with the same draping down vertically for about a foot creates an elegant entry with flower-fall above a wonderful rangoli pattern. A basket of flowers with a diya within would make for great corner fillers for the room. Or an earthen pot with floating flowers and diyas will have your guests' attention!

Talking of guests, a dining table decorated with a symmetrical display of sweets with a few flowers can go a long way in impressing them. This is also the best time to take out your most expensive crockery and cutlery besides the most beautiful candle stands you own. The table's centre can be the candle stand with tea lights lit and the sweets/ food radiating amongst flowers. If you are someone who wouldn't want to invest in a candle stand, tea lights look whimsical even when lit within wine glasses

Diwali is the festival of lights and with different kinds of lights available in the market today there are plenty to choose from, lantern lights for the balconies/ deck, multi-coloured series light on the railing, and the classic yellow fairy light looks great anywhere! Fairy lights are the most fascinating décor elements that can turn the entire feel factor of the space into a festive one! You may use them to enhance the garland by wrapping them around the flowers, a garden filled with fairy lights suspended from tree foliage will add a dreamy touch to the experience. Lanterns can be hung at corners of focus or even better lit on the floor in an array along with little rangoli and tea lights decoration that guides in the movement of the space.

The furnishings in the living room can be used to augment make-over by changing the cushion covers to ones with golden piping or tassels, curtains can be gathered using fairy lights or even changed if you would want to, rugs can be brought into the picture and held in place with large earthen tea light holders in the corners.

Diwali is one of the most beloved festivals in India, no décor can outrun the old and gold rangoli patterns through the house along with earthen diyas lit at every single corner/ corridor.
