New and emerging technologies are reshaping the dynamics of road construction with a renewed focus on sustainable development. “Our mobile-based applications eliminate the need for physical interaction with customers,” says Sanjay Saxena, Senior Vice President & Head of Heavy Equipment Business Unit, Sany Heavy Industry India. Excerpts from the interview…
Could you brief us on the tech-enabled, smart solutions offered by your company in the roads and highways construction in India?
Technology definitely plays a vital role in increasing productivity of work. Sany offers advanced digital ways for its customers to better connect with their machines through GPS and telematics system. There are varied kinds of technological advancement done in the machines. For instance, the IOT & GPS enablement of machines is aimed at capturing the run hours, machine location, technical parameters of the machines, alarms etc.
Sany India has developed an EVI app which helps customers and OEMs monitor every machine's operations and act swiftly to any issues, thereby enhancing agility. Data is captured on run hours, machine locations, technical parameters and preemptive maintenance. The app provides a real-time update and user can easily plan and assign the machine to next nearby sites. This data analytics improve functioning and upkeep of the equipment. This GPS and telematics solution has opened up the road to intelligent construction of roads and highways in India. While using telematics, equipment owners can reap benefits by reducing their operating costs and improve productivity.
What are the main points in faster adoption of such smart and intelligent solutions by the project owners and executing agencies and how do you address the same?
Heavy construction machines and equipment are very expensive and highly technical, and any wrong operation can cause huge damage. Thus it becomes necessary for the customers and operators to get detailed knowledge of the machines and equipment. Sany provides advanced technical training for operators and project owners on or off-site, which unlocks the full capability of machinery. Our comprehensive training equips operators with high-level machine operation and maintenance skills. This can be new equipment induction, technology upgrades training, new personnel training or simply refreshing and building experience.
Our expert-led training sessions ensure that operators master skills to help them operate machines safely and efficiently so as to maximize job-site productivity. Sany training helps operators be more productive while reducing fuel consumption, machine wear and tear, and unplanned downtime, for a more profitable and environmentally caring operation at sites.
Your outlook on future trends in road construction technologies, and your company's contributory role?
Technology plays a vital role in increasing productivity of work and there are varied kinds of technological advancement done in the machines. We have already developed our EVI app which helps the customers to monitor and analyze the real time performance of the machine on site and act accordingly. It is helpful in managing a single or fleet of machines and get real-time updates of the machine performance which is tracked by GPS installed hardware.
Our mobile-based applications eliminate the need for physical interaction with customers. Our machines are equipped with the best-in-class telematics which helps the owner to know the service intervals, the hour of operation, and location of the machine, and other required details of the machine.
