How do you view the current market scenario in Indian construction industry?
The Indian construction industry, particularly in the road construction segment, remains buoyant due to the government's strong emphasis on building robust infrastructure. The Union Budget 2024-25 reflects this, with a significant allocation of Rs 2.66 lakh crore for rural development. This investment is expected to further drive demand for construction equipment.
Additionally, with India achieving its second-highest rate of National Highway construction, building approximately 12,300 km in the last fiscal year (nearly 34 km per day), there is a notable rise in demand for road construction equipment, such as compactors. The Ministry of Transport’s proposal to establish a dedicated Corridor Management Unit (CMU) within NHAI to manage and maintain the growing network of widened highways is a strategic move in light of the projected increase in highway length to 89,900 km by 2037 and 1.27 lakh km by 2047.
