What is your overview on the market scenario of mobile cranes in India?

Currently Indian economy is progressing towards $5 trillion economy and above 25% growth has come from various CE equipment. For mobile crane segment, the growth was very limited earlier, but in the past year post-Covid situation we saw this segment has gained a huge growth in all categories ranging from small tonnage of 25 ton to 110 ton, middle tonnage of 150 ton to 300 ton, heavy tonnage of 350 ton to 600 ton and super tonnage of above 600 ton.

The total number in all the above segments is increasing aggressively as our company has achieved the growth in market size for mobile cranes. Compared to last year, the growth in Indian market for our super tonnage cranes now stands with 28% market share, which is way larger number than the past five years for us in super tonnage. Overall there has been a huge shift in super tonnage as the Government of India’s progressive thought on wind energy. The wind turbine installation has given a huge rise for the use of super tonnage cranes. Crawler crane market has grown in huge numbers in comparison to tyre-mounted cranes. Currently big super tonnage and heavy tonnage capacity cranes are being imported by Indian customers in huge numbers to cater the demand for refinery and cement/steel plant expansions.

How do you look at the demand trend? What is the demand-supply scenario?

Currently to cater the demand, we are keeping huge inventory of various models/tonnage cranes regularly in our India yard. We have developed this concept to meet the Indian customer demand effectively and to provide them machinery on immediate basis for their project deployment. This saves time for a client to avoid any delivery delay issues. Timely supply of cranes enables finishing the project on time, thus saving the overall project cost.

Also, for super tonnage crane our strategy is keeping machinery production plan in advance for all inventory items as per order forecast and pipeline feedback we collect from our local business manager.

What are the latest products and technologies in your range of mobile cranes?

We are following simple steps and feedback from our important customers and partners on the application and usage of products. We have developed many products specifically to meet the Indian market demand as per client requirements. These include the products which we have launched in various verticals like in mobile cranes 160-ton all-terrain dual-engine and 220-ton all-terrain dual-engine, 150-ton crawler crane with luffing combination and 350-ton/400-ton/800-ton crawler crane with very good lifting capabilities launched in India last year.

For various lifting capacities, we work closely with clients to see matching product in maximum application requirements with their best efficiency in lifting.

The big tonnage cranes are fully loaded with safety cut-off features like no boom operation can be taken by operator without adjustment and placement of outrigger. In the crawler cranes, we saw there were some incidents happened at site so we are now able to provide ground pressure data in system which will provide the feedback to operators in case ground pressure is not suitable.

Engine cut-off/boom cut-off safety features will avoid any damage happening further in the crane in case of any malfunction of system.

What are the green initiatives in your mobile cranes range?

we are going to launch EV crane in the crawler crane segment soon as this product has been developed and launched during our annual event and we believe that this small step in this segment will take us ahead.

What are the aftermarket services offered for your mobile crane customers?

Aftermarket is very essential for the growth of any company. We are bringing different technologies to the market where customers can reach us through our mobile applications and raise their concerns and issues related to the equipment.

For spare parts, we are working on the concept of providing warehouse for every region in their location so that client can purchase the spare parts immediately whenever they need. Service centre set up has been done at important areas to keep the service engineer available to provide service response attention to visit site on an immediate basis within 12-24 hr.

What are your future plans for Indian market?

We are planning to start our factory setup with production activities starting from 2024. We are working on expanding in earthmoving machinery and concrete machinery to explore the market in India and our R&D team is to develop suitable equipment as per India market conditions and model.

Our entire company concept for consistency and growth is to build strong local team and local production capacity.
