Wilo launches innovative pumping technology to combat urban flooding in Indian cities
Wilo, a leader in water management technology, has launched a cutting-edge axial flow submersible pumping system designed to mitigate the risks associated with urban flooding.
“The new pumping system, combined with an advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, is capable of handling large volumes of water in urban settings. The system is especially effective in managing low delivery heads and ensuring real-time monitoring, making it an essential tool for disaster preparedness and protection of both lives and assets,” said Ravi Ulangwar, Head of Water Management at Wilo. He also emphasizes the importance of this technology in preventing flooding and reducing infrastructure damage in densely populated areas.
Already, 29 Wilo pump sets have been operational in Mumbai for over 12 years, effectively preventing water logging during heavy rainfall. This success story provides a scalable model for other Indian cities grappling with similar challenges. As climate change continues to intensify the risk of flooding, Wilo’s solution offers a proactive approach to managing water flow and ensuring long-term urban resilience.
Hemant Watve, Chairman and Managing Director, Wilo said,” Forward-thinking solutions like these are critical to safeguarding public safety and supporting sustainable urban development. This announcement marks a significant step toward addressing urban flooding with technology-driven solutions that can protect India’s growing cities from future environmental challenges.”
