How are the plumbing systems evolving with innovation and new technology in the area of commercial and residential plumbing? Could you give any examples of Artificial Intelligent based products used in plumbing today? How is the technology resulting in the savings of time, cost and resources for the contractor?

Plumbing is no exception to the technological advancements and it is evolving with a greater pace in terms of materials, products and innovations. Many new advanced products are getting introduced for the hot and cold water supply and building drainage for commercial and residential plumbing. In the past few years, advanced material like PEX, PERT and multilayer composite pipes are being introduced for hot and cold water supply. For building drainage, low noise drainage systems with many advanced features are now available to meet and exceed the building drainage requirements. Similar developments are taking place in underground drainage sewerage segment wherein complete advance drainage system with readymade inspection chambers and manholes is now available. Quality of these products is at par with the products available in the other developed counties.

Every technology or new advanced products are normally introduced as better substitute to the products already available in the market. The new and advanced products mentioned earlier helps in extensive saving in time, labour, cost and resources. This is because of their unique properties like being light weighted, simple yet effective jointing, user-friendly installation techniques, cost effectiveness in comparison with the alternative products available in the market and many other unique features that these products offer.

All the new and innovative products helps to boost the productivity of the contractors because of their simple yet effective installation techniques, which not only saves time but labor as well.  To name a few, our innovative products like Nu-drain underground drainage and sewer system with readymade inspection chambers and manholes, readymade septic tanks and grease traps, readymade toilet blocks and pubic urinals are very useful in terms of boosting contractors productivity.

How are the plumbing solutions becoming more eco-friendly today?

Plastic piping solution is the eco-friendly solution when compared with the conventional products. It is mainly because of the simple processing and reprocessing, low power consumption in manufacturing, low cost in handling and installation besides durability, minimal or no maintenance requirements, water tightness of the joints makes them eco-friendly.

What is the growth outlook for the industry, particularly in the context of the elections?

Being vital among all other industries, the piping industry is bound to grow. Looking at the huge growth potential and new emerging application segment many foreign companies are trying to enter the Indian market. In these circumstances, there will be increased demand for quality product, thus local manufacturers especially small manufacturers have to improve the quality and adopt new technologies to stay in the business.

Various projects and programs of the Government like 24×7 metered water supply, sanitation for all, housing for all by 2022 and smart city projects will further boost the growth of the industry.  Considering the present scenario development is bound to happen in India irrespective of election or any government.

What are the key issues faced by the industry? How would you expect the industry/government to resolve them?

Government should instill some mechanism or implement additional stringent quality norms over presently used norms to check and restrict the usage of substandard quality products in various infrastructure projects to promote only quality products for long term performance.
