Antony Waste Handling Cell secures CIDCO contract for bio-mining and resource recovery
Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (AWHCL), a prominent integrated solid waste management company in India, announced its successful acquisition of a contract valued at approximately Rs 77 crores for bio-mining MSW in CIDCO. Under the banner of AWHCL, its subsidiary Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Private Limited will spearhead the project, focusing on reclaiming the entire dumping area and deploying cutting-edge mechanical processes for resource recovery.
The primary objective of the project is to reclaim the dumping area and process an estimated 8.6 lakh tonnes of legacy MSW within a 730-day timeframe. This endeavor reflects AWHCL's unwavering dedication to environmental conservation and the adoption of sustainable waste management practices.
Bio-remediation stands at the core of the project, involving the implementation of bio-mining and mechanical methodologies to reclaim land previously utilized for garbage dumping. The waste will undergo meticulous segregation at a Material Recovery Facility, championing resource recovery by sorting various materials such as RDF (refuse-derived fuel), compost, inert materials, and soil.
Jose Jacob, Chairman & Managing Director of Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the contract award, stating: "We are thrilled to secure this contract in the bio-mining sector, reaffirming our commitment to advancing modern waste management practices. Our expertise and utilization of advanced technologies enable us to effectively address the evolving needs of municipal corporations across India. This project underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability and highlights our pivotal role in fostering positive change through innovative waste management solutions."
This contract marks the firm's second venture into the bio-mining sector, following its earlier project near Lakhnavali village at Greater Noida in collaboration with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority.
In addition to this, AWHCL has recently commissioned Maharashtra's first Waste to Energy plant, showcasing its commitment to innovative waste management solutions and environmental sustainability.
