With number of vehicles growing in cities, more parking facilities are becoming a necessity. How do you look at the scenario?

The urban population is expanding at a rapid pace. Many households in urban areas can afford multiple cars and conventional parking spaces offered per flat on ground floor of a building are not enough to accommodate cars in a building or a society. Space is going to be a big concern in cities in the recent future. The rising number of cars is challenging the architects, developers and owners to create sufficient parking spaces on their residential and commercial properties. Urban planners have to consider the fact that a huge portion of a land will be utilised to handle car population if multilevel car parking systems are not adopted at the initial stages of design and construction.

What are the emerging trends in parking systems?

The electric vehicle (EV) market is emerging fast and the lack of charging stations is one of the biggest challenges. But several players in the multilevel parking systems market are building advanced infrastructure to combat this issue.

KLAUS Multiparking recognised this need and has taken significant steps towards addressing this by including an EV charging facility in parking systems. So, the car owners can not only safely park their cars in the system, but also can charge their EVs if desired. KLAUS's innovative parking solutions have these EV charging points where cars can be charged conveniently at residential structures, companies, commercial buildings, and even public places like malls.

What are the types of parking systems available in India?

Various types of multilevel parking systems with a latest technology are gaining momentum in Indian cities. Architects, builders and even end-users understand the advantages of them over a conventional parking slot. Multilevel parking systems are broadly categorised into three types: stack parking systems, puzzle parking systems and fully automatic parking systems. KLAUS Multiparking India offers a broad product portfolio under these three categories. Urban planners can choose from these products to suit their parking needs. Sometimes a combination of systems is also useful as our experts suggest optimum utilisation of available spaces in projects.

How is the growing urbanisation and space crunch driving the demand for automated multilevel vehicle parking systems in India?

In cities that are already facing a space crunch, drivers often have no option but to park on roads or in spaces reserved for other users or sometimes even on sidewalks. This shortens available space, hindering the free flow of traffic and raising the probability of road accidents. A feasible parking solution is to construct multilevel parking systems by employing vertical space to correct use rather than utilising horizontal space. Real estate fraternity in dense cities has become aware of this fact and a few developers are already deploying multilevel parking systems in their projects.

What kind of customised solutions do you offer?

At KLAUS Multiparking, our primary focus for all systems is safety and reliability. Therefore, all our products follow strict engineering guidelines and must undergo rigorous testing at the prototype stage before we bring them to the market. While designing the product, our engineers have the vision to think about a solution that will provide comfort to the end-users not only in the present use but in the future also.

When it comes to customisations, our products come with a range of standard weight bearing capacities, platform widths, and variable heights in our systems to suit the need of customers. As I mentioned earlier, we also provide EV charging points for existing as well new installations.

How is the manufacturing of parking systems growing in India? What kind of demand are you anticipating in future for parking systems?

India is one of the largest markets for automobile industry and is growing rapidly. We are and have always been very optimistic about India, and today our country is on the cusp of huge economic and technological growth with the highest number of young population in the world who have an aspiration to own a home and a car.

With the introduction of government initiatives like GST and RERA, we believe that the construction industry in India will see a huge growth not only in terms of quantity of units sold but also the quality of construction. We therefore believe that the multilevel car parking industry shall become a very common technology in the coming decade. Several local and international manufacturers are already present in India to cater to this demand. We have been in India for almost two decades now with a footprint in all the major cities across the country, and our vast geography presents us with challenges but there are huge opportunities ahead.

How do you look at the future market opportunities for various parking systems and solutions? What kind of solutions will effectively address the parking needs in future?

Urban spaces are being redesigned and redeveloped. The new designs are made eco-friendly allowing green spaces as a mandatory factor. As these spaces are restricted horizontally in many cases, a vertical approach is being adopted in every possible way. Many architects and developers are ready to consider multi-level parking systems as an effective solution to manage increasing demands of end users.

The FSI eligibility of dense cities differs from each other, so the multilevel parking designs. Simple solutions like stack parking systems and puzzle parking systems are on huge demand in residential and commercial complexes. Moreover, premium projects are ready to opt for fully automatic parking systems. All of these solutions will effectively address the parking needs in future.
