Embassy Group has continued its support of the Bengaluru City Police as the number of positive cases of Covid-19 rise in Karnataka, by donating 4,500 face shields and 8,000 re-usable gloves for traffic police personnel, at the cost of Rs 15 lakh.

The critical protective equipment was handed over to Basavaraja Bommaih, Home Minister, Government of Karnataka at Town Hall.

"Many of the Bengaluru traffic police are succumbing to the virus amidst rising cases in the city, with close to one-third of the 4,500 Bengaluru traffic police personnel infected. With a lockdown instituted in Bengaluru, police personnel are on the frontlines attempting to contain the pandemic, putting in longer work hours and facing strenuous physical requirements. The donation of protective equipment will be utilized towards ensuring that members of the police forces will be able to conduct their duties at the frontline while protecting themselves," the company said.

The face shields and re-usable gloves will be distributed over an 8-day period to 44 police stations and 3,800 personnel.
