India has made notable progress in its endeavour to achieve a Net Zero economy. Our country has pledged to attain Net Zero status by 2070 and is targeting the installation of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 towards this goal. The shift towards clean technologies and eco-friendly energy sources globally will necessitate greater usage of sustainable materials, resulting in a surge in demand for 'green metals' such as aluminium.

Building a sustainable future with aluminium

Aluminium is a strategic metal with critical applications in a wide range of industries. Its distinct properties, including high strength-to-weight ratio, resistance to corrosion, infinite recyclability, malleability, and conductivity, make it the preferred choice for various critical sectors like defence, aerospace, infrastructure, automotive, electrical, and packaging, as well as emerging sectors such as high-tech manufacturing, renewable energy, battery technologies, electric vehicles, and more. It is no surprise that aluminium is often referred to as the 'metal of the future.'

India embracing the power of aluminium

India's demand for aluminium is predicted to increase to approximately 10 million tonnes by 2030, primarily driven by growth in these sectors. Although there are roughly 3,000 uses of aluminium worldwide across various industries, India has only explored about 300, highlighting the country's potential for value addition. With transformational initiatives such as the development of aluminium-based Vande Bharat trains, 100% electrification across the country, the production of new electric BEST buses, and the creation of indigenous space programs in progress across the nation, India needs to now fully embrace the full potential of aluminium.
