Gati Launches Advanced Mega Surface Transhipment Centre And Distribution Warehouse In Bengaluru

Allcargo Gati Ltd (formerly GATI), one of India’s leading premier express distribution and supply chain management companies, has launched a state-of-the-art and tech-enabled Surface Transhipment Centre and Distribution Warehouse (STCDW) at Mayasandra, Hobli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Strategically located at just 5.5 km away from NH 44 (Bengaluru-Hosur Highway) at the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the STCDW is spread over 3.5 lakh sq ft and it has a 1.5 lakh sq ft Grade A warehouse. An upcoming Hosur Outer Ring Road is just 1.5 km away from the STCDW, offering superior accessibility and connectivity. Because of the proximity to railway and international airport, the strategic advantage significantly reduces transit time and enables businesses to deliver products faster to their customers. Mayasandra STCDW is the fifth super hub launched by Gati.

Mayasandra STCDW has 70 truck bays of managing more than 500 vehicles per day. The Mayasandra STCDW is equipped to deliver daily throughput of 1,600 tonne and monthly throughput of 40,000 tonnes. STCDW caters to multiple industries including automotive, apparel, heavy engineering, retail etc.

By leveraging advanced warehousing technologies and inventory management systems deployed at the Mayasandra STCDW, businesses can track their stock, streamline order fulfilment, and avoid stock-outs or overstocking situations. This ultimately leads to better customer satisfaction and improved operational efficiency. The STCDW facilitates milk run within city movement between the facility and multiple touch point of all branches within Bengaluru city.

The Mayasandra STCDW complies with green norms and has environment sustainable measures in place such as rainwater harvesting, solarisation facility and vehicles with alternative fuels. It has all the required material handling equipment such as dock leveller, BOPT, HPT apart from advanced safety measures such as fire hydrants, fire alarm, CCTV, round-the-clock-security, sprinkler, etc. The facility has deployed 85 staff and 173 handlers to manage regional distributions as well as consolidate, sort-dispatch long-haul loads for the rest of the country.

Pirojshaw (Phil) Sarkari, MD and CEO, Gati Express and Supply Chain Pvt Ltd (Gati) said, “We are pleased to launch the multi-user STCDW at Mayasandra which offers massive cargo handling capacity and superior connectivity due to its strategic locational advantages. The tech-enabled STCDW will pave the way for greater customer centricity at Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India and a key consumption centre of the country. With advanced infrastructure, ramped up cargo processing capacity and environmentally sustainable initiatives, the STCDW will strengthen our position in the express logistics space. In the next phase of infrastructure development, we are in the process of setting up STCDWs with Grade A warehousing facilities across India.”

The launch of Mayasandra STCDW is a part of Gati’s plan to build 21 modern, automated and environmentally friendly STCDWs. Gati has set up STCDWs in Farukhnagar (Gurugram), Nagpur, Guwahati, and most recently in Bhiwandi (Mumbai).

As part of Gati’s ESG initiatives, Gati aims to convert its entire pickup and delivery fleet of more than 2,500 vehicles into alternative fuel vehicles by 2025.
