We have been doing pretty well. Globally, Atlas Copco is present in over 180 countries providing power solutions in different sectors like construction and mining, food, oil and gas etc. If some markets are down, some other regions are doing well. As a group we are not much impacted by the slowdown. And we have also registered a good growth in the aftermarket.

What about the Indian market scenario which is facing a slowdown?

Our performance in India in 2019 was very good; Despite many challenges and dip in construction and mining sectors, we registered good growth. This was due to the boom in water well segment especially in the South. Water well drilling was booming and we have been able to take full advantage of the growth opportunities with our high quality products.

The revenue from the aftermarket is also very good as in situations like these most of the customers kept the machine running for longer time which necessitated better service for better output. We have good territory coverage, with well-trained engineers attending the customer needs, with immediate access and availability of spares in all regions. This also benefited us.

We are sure that the construction and mining sectors will also pick up in the near future.             [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]What is the latest in air compressor technology?

During Excon 2019 we launched The XAWS 550 portable air compressor with Pressure Adjusted through Cognitive Electronics (PACE) technology. This is the first of its kind technology in the portable air compressor segment where pressure can be set with the XC2003 digital controller in 3 simple steps. This enables the customers to pick the pressure with the PACE technology. It provides pressure ranging from 6 to 15 bar, and its highly efficient screw element and PACE technology gives 8 percent better fuel efficiency.

Which are the other products launched during Excon?

We have set a new bench mark in the portable air compressor segment with the launch of four forward thinking compressors and extended light tower range. As mentioned The XAWS 550 with PACE technology, XRH 1100 Plus, XAV216 Plus, and XA187 PLUS portable air compressors.

The XRH 1100 Plus is a product tailor-made for specialised applications like water well drilling, foundation drilling, coal mining and blast-hole drilling. The XAV216 PLUS portable air compressor with four variants in its class is the new technology driver in the 450 - 600 cfm range of compressors to cover a wide range of applications. The XA187 PLUS portable air compressor is an upgraded version of the current XA187 model.

These latest compressors are made in India, at our state of the art Chakan facility in Pune supported with strong aftermarket service standards that help customers to enhance productivity, increase machine uptime, and achieve optimal fuel economy.

What about the lighting solutions?

We have extended the range of light towers with the launch of the HiLight V4+ LED light tower. The light range now extends from 250 W to 350 W. While the HiLight V5+ can illuminate an area of approximately 5,000 sqm, the HiLight V4+ covers an area of 4000 sqm with an average brightness of 20 lux. It complies with CPCB II, and gives fuel savings up to 50 percent compared to metal halide.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]How have you been able to leverage advanced technologies like telematics and data analytics?

Most of the customers make calculation on the life cycle cost of the machine, look for long service intervals, and longer life time. We always come with more innovation, especially saving energy, and making the machine more efficient. We keep on innovating for the benefit of our customers, and bring high quality products which are easy to operate and highly efficient and productive.   We have developed an innovative app that can be fitted in the system, which is very easy to use. The customer can track the machine, its performance, running hours etc. It gives you indication on when the machine need to be serviced, so the customer can focus on his core business.

Are you present in the rental space?  How does the scenario look like?

We are not into standard rental, but we do rent some special application equipment. Our dealers and distributors are as well present in the rental space.

How do you foresee the future outlook?

India is a country with lots of opportunities and there is lot of demand in various sectors such as roads and highways, construction and mining, ports and airports etc.  Though the construction and mining sector have slowed a bit, we are sure that the government will bring new policies and reforms to infrastructure development.  The vibes have been very positive and we have been investing in India keeping an eye on the market requirements.

Why should a customer buy from Atlas Copco?
