What are the latest trends in doors and windows?

There is a great demand for windows and doors that need lower maintenance and are made of energy-saving, efficient materials. Beyond aesthetics, windows are expected to perform other functions including optimising day-lighting and energy conservation.  With the increase in consumer aspirations, premium quality products have achieved a higher and faster market penetration globally. The current doors and windows market is not just limited to basic, old and dull designs. With smooth sliders, and eco-friendly and energy-efficient options to sheikh arch-looking designs, the emerging trends have revolutionised the overall door-window market. It has allowed boundless opportunities to choose from various future-ready design options.

Can you help us understand the sustainability factor of uPVC door and windows?

uPVC is a highly sustainable product that does not affect the environment, unlike wood, for which a large number of trees are cut every year. We at Window Magic believe in the idea of sustainable development that uPVC provides us. uPVC material can work well in harsh environmental conditions and other external factors. It is scratch-free as compared to aluminium which has a dent and scratch hassles frequently. In my view, if uPVC is made with the right combinations and techniques, it can work for more than 20 years without any repair. We at Window Magic give assurance of at least 25 years to our clients.

Is it affordable when compared to say, wood?

When we talk about home decor, wooden doors and windows are still a better choice for some, but when it comes to the cost and the overall aesthetics, uPVC are hands down most reliable, as they come with various benefits and uPVC is cheaper than the best quality wood. However, a one-time investment could be higher but it gets repaid in terms of low maintenance and its yearlong warranty which is above 20 years and lifecycle of more than 50 years. Hence, uPVC is a pocket-friendly solution to home décor.

Going forward, what will be the emerging trend in the manufacturing of doors and windows?

According to us, the fenestration market is growing rapidly due to the rising awareness amongst builders and consumers, rapid urbanization, growth in residential units and increased adoption of eco-friendly and energy conserving products to comply with government's initiative of Energy Conservation Building Code. Strong outlook in residential as well as commercial sectors including new constructions and renovation projects will drive the demand for windows and doors. Increasing construction accompanied by economic growth particularly will support the fenestration demand. Necessity for privacy and improved sound insulation due to changing lifestyles will fuel the product demand. Changing demographics and income trends along with the growing population are among major factors supporting the product demand.
