We are taking the maximum benefit of infrastructure developments and supplying cement at its full level

The government has given a lot of thrust on infrastructure with initiatives like Gati Shakti, Bharatmala, Sagarmala, Smart Cities mission, AMRUT, Jal Shakti etc under the National Infrastructure pipeline. This has given a lot of opportunities to cement industry in completing the projects like airports, seaports, national highways, and other road projects, railway crossing to under or over bridges, ring roads, bypasses, elevated corridors, tunnels etc. We are taking the maximum benefit of these infrastructure developments and supplying cement at its full level. Some of the projects to whom we are supplying are Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, Goa and other airports. For national highways and road projects, we are supplying at many parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

How do you view the progress of infrastructure development in the country under the National Infrastructure Pipeline programme?

How are the innovations at Bharathi Cement contributing to the infra developments of the country?

Bharathi Cement is a flagship brand of Vicat, France which is spread in 12 countries. Vicat in India functions in three verticals - Cement, Aggregates and Polymers.

In cement, we produce superior quality products to meet customer requirements with enhanced satisfaction such as Ordinary Portland Cement 53 grade, Ordinary Portland Cement 43 grade, Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) and Portland Slag Cement (PSC). We have also started a special cement product called Bharathi Ultrafast. All these products are supplied depending on customer need base to all the southern markets of India and Maharashtra.

We are also available in the packed form to the trade segment and bulk cement to the B2B projects.

What are the opportunities for Bharathi Cement in the future market scenario?

Nowadays, bulk cement demand is growing. Besides, government has also decided to adopt cement instead of bitumen for construction of all new road projects. To cater to the requirement, we have initially established a terminal at Mumbai and one more terminal at Coimbatore is coming up to reach the markets of Southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which will be operational soon.

How is sustainability playing an important role in the company's operations and products?

Our company has already started working on improving the green cement consumption like Portland Pozzolana cement and Portland Slag cement in our segment, which will help in reduction of carbon emission and also reduce the consumption clinker. We have also established WHRS and solar power units at both plants in Kadapa with a 10-MW solar plant and in Kalaburgi with 8.5-MW solar plant.

What are the company's expansion plans and how is the company drawing its growth plans?

Recently, our production capacity at Kalaburgi plant has been enhanced from 2.75 MTPA to 3.60 MTPA, making our total group capacity as 8.60 MTPA.  We also have an operational terminal at Mumbai and terminal at Coimbatore which is under construction with a capacity of 0.84 MTPA to cater to the markets of Kerala and Southern Tamil Nadu, which will be commissioned shortly. We are also looking into various options to reduce CO2emission and to come up with Greencement products.
