How do you look at the current scenario of the Indian construction industry?
The Indian construction industry is experiencing a dynamic phase of transformation, driven by rapid urbanization, government initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission, and an increased focus on infrastructure development like Metros, High Speed Rail, Bridges etc. Despite facing challenges such as supply chain disruptions and fluctuating material costs; the sector is poised for growth with advancements in technology and sustainability practices.
Which are the key products and technologies that are shaping the future of the infrastructure industry?
‘Innovation’ has been the fundamental principle in the establishment and growth of Dextra. We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary and in these four decades there have been a number of products and solutions which have added tremendous technical value to our stakeholders.
To give a best example, it’s a Dextra who introduced mechanical splicing or couplers in Indian market way back in early 2000. This product is the best replacement for the traditional lapping method, which was never reliable, cost effective and efficient. And we have a range of couplers available – for in situ construction, precast and even for repairs and retrofits.
We have superior and higher grades of bars available (Gr 700) for Marine & Bridge applications which results in lesser dia of the product – hence less tonnage – ease of handling – more sustainable. The beauty of our ground engineering range lies in GFRP material which has higher strength, very light weight, durable with 100 years of life and yet cost competitive. Products such as the Sonic tubes are essential for verifying the integrity of deep piles in foundation work.
Our products are distinguished by an impressive list of quality certifications from both local and internationally recognized bodies, underscoring their reliability and performance in demanding construction environments.
How is Dextra driving sustainability within the construction industry?
At Dextra, we understand the significant impact our actions have on the environment and society. Therefore, we are committed to driving positive change through our comprehensive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy. We have integrated sustainability principles into every aspect of our operations.
Replacing lapping joints by using our couplers reduces consumption of steel and hence CO2 emission significantly. Our GFRP range of products consumes 60-70% less CO2 and ~40% less energy compared to the steel.
We have acquired Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for several of our products, including rebar couplers, marine tie bars, and GFRP solutions, with more on the way. These EPDs reflect our dedication to transparency and our environmental impact.
