What is the current market scenario of the Indian construction equipment industry?

The Indian construction equipment industry is witnessing robust growth, driven by increasing infrastructure investments, urbanization, and government-backed initiatives like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and Smart Cities Mission. Despite global challenges, the sector has remained resilient, with demand for technologically advanced and efficient equipment surging. Schwing Stetter India is at the forefront, leveraging this momentum to offer cutting-edge solutions that align with the industry’s evolving needs. Our focus on sustainability and innovation positions us as a key contributor to India’s growing CE market.

How far does expanding infrastructure investment push the consistent use of equipment in infrastructure projects?

Expanding infrastructure investments have a direct and significant impact on the consistent utilization of construction equipment. With mega projects in roads, railways, metros, and ports underway, the demand for efficient and reliable equipment is at an all-time high. Schwing Stetter India, with its comprehensive portfolio of concreting and construction machinery, ensures that project timelines are met with precision and productivity. Our machines, known for durability and advanced technology, are tailored to meet the demands of large-scale infrastructure development, supporting consistent usage across diverse terrains and requirements.

How do you look at the progress of Make in India initiatives in construction equipment? What are your major Make in India initiatives?

The Make in India initiative has been transformative for the construction equipment industry, fostering local manufacturing, reducing import dependencies, and enhancing self-reliance. Schwing Stetter India has been a proud supporter of this initiative, with 100% of our equipment being manufactured locally. From setting up state-of-the-art production facilities in Chennai to exporting Indian-made machines to over 60 countries, our commitment to Make in India is unwavering. Our latest developments, including the indigenously produced boom pumps and batching plants, underscore our dedication to innovation and skill development within the country.

Indian CE industry needs to focus more on enhancing exports. What is your take on this, and what are the steps from the company in this regard?

Exports represent a significant growth opportunity for the Indian CE industry, and Schwing Stetter India has been a pioneer in tapping global markets. Our export strategy is rooted in delivering world-class quality and leveraging India’s cost advantages. We have established a strong presence in markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, with Indian-made SCHWING equipment being widely recognized for its performance and reliability. By enhancing our production capacity, integrating advanced technology, and focusing on localized solutions for international markets, we aim to further strengthen our export footprint.

It is equally important to enhance the local manufacturing of components and aggregates in India. How do you think this is important from an OEM perspective?

Local manufacturing of components and aggregates is crucial for achieving cost efficiency, reducing lead times, and ensuring supply chain reliability. For an OEM like Schwing Stetter India, this approach aligns perfectly with our commitment to Make in India. By collaborating with local suppliers, we ensure quality and cost-effectiveness while supporting the domestic manufacturing ecosystem. This not only helps in reducing dependency on imports but also fosters innovation and skill development within the local market, contributing to the overall growth of the construction equipment industry.

What is your vision on India becoming the second-largest CE market globally? How are you gearing up for this? What is the way forward?

India is well on its way to becoming the second-largest construction equipment market globally, driven by sustained infrastructure investments and favourable policies. Schwing Stetter India envisions being a pivotal player in this transformation. We are gearing up by expanding our manufacturing capacities, integrating advanced technologies like IoT and telematics into our equipment, and strengthening our after-sales service network. Our commitment to sustainability, skill development, and innovation ensures that we not only meet the demands of this growing market but also set benchmarks for excellence. The way forward involves continuous investment in R&D, fostering local partnerships, and aligning our strategies with the dynamic needs of the infrastructure and construction sectors.
