How is the PEB sector evolving in India? What are the demand drivers?

PEB market has expended into being called steel building solutions market and is evolving rapidly. The steel buildings now include commercial, infrastructure, and institutional solutions apart from the usual PEB market, which was once dominated by manufacturing and warehousing sectors alone.

The demand driver is manufacturing, infra, and warehousing sector. Players like Amazon and Flipkart are creating giant size storage warehousing formats to fulfill the e-commerce boom. The PLI scheme and impetus on building infrastructure by Government of India is another big growth driver for PEBs in India. Interarch is executing major infra projects for RVNL at Jhansi and warehousing parks for Amazon and Flipkart in north of India.

How do you view the Budget announcements as a growth enabler for your sector?

Government of India's focus on creating infrastructure is going to be a boon for the construction industry in general. The customers would want their buildings fast and hassle-free and that would drive them to choose PEBs. PLI schemes expansion would drive growth in the manufacturing sector and PEBs are a default choice for building any factory nowadays.

What are the key solutions from the company for PEB and allied segments?

Interarch offers full scale PEB solutions for industrial, commercial, retail, warehousing, and infrastructure buildings. The solutions are complete and fully integrated with design and build basis. The other products include Interarch Light Gauge Frame solutions majorly for commercial and residential. The allied products are Tracdek roofing, claddings and Trac false ceilings in various shapes and sizes.

What are the latest technologies adopted by the company in its operations?

We have adopted automatic welding for all our H beams, resulting in a strong and accurate weld. The Roll forming operations for other products are carried in fully automatic mode. We have been using Primavera and MSP for carrying our project management on end-to-end basis.

The government's recent announcements are expected to drive the infrastructure growth in the country further. How do you view the growth of your business in future?

Infrastructure building has always been the key to any country's progress, and India is well on its way now. We started doing airports false ceilings way back in 1984 and did the major steel works, including providing the largest roofing cover in the country at T3 terminal which completed in 2010. This mission is driving growth for railway, road, and logistics infrastructure and PEB is a readymade solution for it. This would be a great demand driver in times to come.

What are your expansion plans to meet the emerging market requirements?

We already have four plants in India, two each located in North and South of India. We are looking at expanding in Southern and Western India with two new manufacturing plants. The Engineering offices have already been expanded with brand new office at Hyderabad and more than doubling of our capacity at our Chennai Engineering office. Noida remains our central marketing and Engineering office and has been expanding to meet the demand and our  growth plans.
