Uddhav Thackeray-led government has signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) worth over Rs 61042 crore with 25 Indian companies under its Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 initiative.
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has signed the pact with these companies in more than 15 sectors, which are expected to create 2.53 lakh jobs across the state, the government said in a statement.
Among these 25 firms, JSW Steel and Kirtikumar Steel Udyog have signed MoUs for Rs 20000 crore and Rs 7500 crore, respectively. Warehousing and logistics firm Indian Corporation has signed an agreement for Rs 11049 crore, while K Raheja and Inspire Infra Projects have signed MoUs for Rs 7500 crore each
In November, Maharashtra had signed MoUs to the tune of Rs 34850 crore with 15 private companies, while in June, the state had entered into agreements worth Rs 16000 crore.
According to the statement the state has already signed agreements worth over Rs 1.12 lakh crore in the last six months.
“Even in these crucial times when the state is fighting the Covid battle to mitigate the spread of the deadly coronavirus, the government has already signed contracts worth around almost Rs 2 lakh crore, which is commendable. My government will continue to support the industries,” Thackeray said.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Thackeray, industries minister Subhash Desai, minister of state for industries Aditi Tatkare and other senior government officials.
