Vehicles are becoming a necessity in the country and so the parking space. How do you look at the scenario?
The main solution for enhanced car parking given to the builders/real estate developers by the architects/designers is digging cellars or construction of RCC floors in the buildings of the project. However, these car spaces were not sufficient to meet the requirements of the corporate houses or the residential houses. The cars are parked spilling all around the neighbourhood, choking the lanes and bylanes.
With an average of 4 to 4.5 million cars produced annually, the average shortage of car parking spaces in the country's urban areas/metros/cities is about 0.5 million per zone in the public, corporate and private housing sectors. About 70% of the Indian population is converging to the cities for their livelihood.
What are the emerging trends in parking systems? What are the types of parking systems available in India?
The parking provision within the building structure either by cellars or upper floors is very taxing financially on the builder. Nearly 25% of the project cost goes into ground excavation works.
How is the growing urbanization and space crunch driving the demand for automated multilevel vehicle parking systems in India?
Parking spaces in RCC structures adds to the carbon footprint to the construction industry. Also it cuts into the FSI (floor space index) which is a big disadvantage to the builders.
What are the new concepts and solutions offered by the company in vehicle parking systems? What kind of customized solutions do you offer?
The other multilevel car parking systems were not well received by the customers/users due to various factors such as complex design and operation - undue robotics, high capital investment, needs a permanent housing structure, critical reliability as the entire system comes to a halt if any operational breakdown occurs. Some projects are also abandoned half way through.
Marine Car Parx has developed and launched a semi-automatic, customizable mass car parking facility suitable for the Indian environment. This is a patented technology in India. The advantages are:
- Saves capital cost in development of the real estate/housing project, by about 25%.
- As the facility can be relocated and is reusable, the carbon footprint in the construction industry is reduced.
- The facility is future-ready for EV charging and parking systems with the provision of capturing solar energy units installed on the top of the structures as suitable to the site.
- Multiple receiving bays for vehicles and redundancy in the operating machinery ensures 100% reliability in 24/7 service.
- Highly space saving and lesser installation time. Very cost effective.
For the Indian car parking requirements, we feel the above facility is the most suitable solution.
How do you look at the future market opportunities for parking systems?
The market opportunity is about 5 lakh car parking spaces in each of the smart cities and urban areas of the country.
